Consultation
The Rivendale Consultation has been closed
Following unprecendented opposition, Rivendale Free School withdrew from its proposed site at Milson Road Medical Centre. Rivendale cited a difficult timescale for accessing the property, however Partnerships for Schools confirmed early on that the location would not be ready in time for a September 2011 opening. There are several buildings of interest to Rivendale, some of which are vacant and available.
There is a new timeline for 2012 opening for new free schools but Rivendale is not subject to the new timeline. It has been approved into pre-opening for 2012.
We have combined earlier pages into summary of local concerns about this proposal for Rivendale Free School to be located on Milson Road.
The Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle reported fairly on the Rivendale proposal and its initial withdrawl.
On 22 March, 2011 Rivendale’s Trustees posted an announcement on its website and on facebook regarding the proposal for Milson Road Health Centre as a site for Rivendale Free School.
“The premises currently occupied by the Milson Road Medical Centre havebeen declared surplus by the Hammersmith & Fulham Primary Care Trust. Following this, the Trustees of Rivendale put forward a proposal to acquire the site and premises for a 1 form of entry primary free school. The PCT has confirmed that it will not be able to make the site available to us in the timescales originally envisaged.
Consequently the Trustees have decided to withdraw their proposal to locate the school in Milson Road, and to end the consultation process that was commenced this month . The Trustees are now re-opening their investigation into all site options, as they maintain their determination to open a new primary school serving the area for September 2011. A new consultation will be carried out once a suitable site has been secured.
The Trustees’ decision has been communicated to and accepted by the relevant authorities at the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, and at the Department for Education.
The Trustees and team at Rivendale would like to thank all respondents for the time and effort they have made in giving their feedback, of all opinions, to the proposal.”
Subsequently, after failing to proceed with a second location at Jasmine Studios, Rivendale had placed this announcement on their website regarding the proposal to open September 2011.
“The Trustees of Rivendale are sad to announce that Rivendale Primary School will not be opening in September 2011. We worked hard to find suitable and affordable premises for the school in time for a September opening, but this has not been possible.”
If further developments occur related to the consultation process, we will inform you.
